Senate President Kevin Raye and Speaker of the House Robert Nutting submitted the first bill of the 125th Legislature – LD1 – as a way to start straightening out the overly-burdensome regulatory environment that is keeping Maine’s businesses from thriving. They formed a special Select Committee on Regulatory Fairness and Reform to travel through the state and listen to the concerns of Maine people and businesses, and to come up with a set of reforms that would help Maine’s economy prosper.

Regulatory Reform is the first step toward improving Maine’s business climate and getting Mainers back to work. The public hearing process has been enlightening, and we’ve heard from people all over Maine that this process is long overdue.

We’ve posted highlights from the public hearing process in our Video section, and you can read some thoughts from Maine legislators in our Latest News section.
